A huge team effort!…..

Everyone at Orchard House was thrilled recently when the home was voted as one of the top 20 care homes in the East Midlands by carehome.co.uk, the leading review site for care homes. Of course, this was not down to the efforts of just one person, or even a few.

Everyone who works so hard at the home has played their part and made Orchard House a lovely place to live. Here you can see some pictures of just a few of our staff teams celebrating the award.

We will be making sure we continue to deliver great care for the people of Ruddington and the local area, and here’s hoping we receive some more awards….we’ll certainly be trying our best!

Happy Birthday Kathleen!…

We all love a Birthday at Balmore and what could be better than helping to celebrate a very special one.

Our lovely resident Kathleen turned 101 on Wednesday, and she certainly wanted to celebrate. Surrounded by balloons, cards, presents and, most importantly, loved ones she certainly enjoyed her day.

Kathleen is a lovely lady and wanted to thank everyone for making her day so special. Of course it goes without saying that her beautiful Birthday cake didn’t last long. Here’s to her next celebration!

Looking back at Pancake Day….

Residents at St Peter’s were delighted with the range of tasty toppings they were able to enjoy on Pancake Day.

There was lots of fruit and maple syrup, as well as lemon and sugar for those with more traditional tastes.

One thing everyone agreed on was the pancakes were wonderful….needless to say they didn’t last long!

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day……

There was more than a hint of green on display in The Ruddington last Monday, as our lovely residents got together to enjoy all the fun of St Patrick’s Day.

Shamrock plates and a lovely spread meant everyone was bale to get together and have a great time. We hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did!

Getting stuck in…..

Maintenance time at St Peter’s and the perfect opportunity for two of our lovely residents to roll up their sleeves and join in the wallpaper stripping.

Our two “volunteer maintenance men” were more than happy to undertake a bit of home improvement – it took them back to times when they used to decorate their own properties. Fantastic job guys and we can’t wait to see the finished result.

Staying flexible….

Residents at The Ruddington took part in a chair exercise class with our carer Marcus this week. Helping the people we support to stay fit and healthy is an important part of what we do. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session, and loved the fact that they could get exercise from their chairs!

Recalling times past…..

A big thank you from all of us at The Ruddington to our friends at Creative Paths who came to the home this week and conducted a reminiscence session with our residents. There were lots of great stories told and the combined life experience of those who attended was incredible.

It was a wonderful and interesting session for everyone.

Hello to Shrove Tuesday!….

And that means lots of pancakes for everyone and a range of delicious toppings to choose from. We polled our residents to see what they liked and there were several votes for sugar and lemon juice as well as chocolate spread. A variety of fruits and jam also scored well. Whatever toppings are chosen we are sure that our kitchen team will produce some really tasty treats.

Flour, eggs and milk…..

Can mean only one thing – yes it’s Shrove Tuesday again and that means pancakes all round.

Get mixing!….Residents and staff will help each other mix the all important batter. But the tricky part will be choosing what toppings to have – so many possibilities to pick from. Lemon and sugar? Chocloate spread? Fruit and cream?
