Lads on tour…….

Well, not quite, but a group of gents from The Ruddington did decide to take a trip to one of our local pubs at the end of last week. Over a couple of pints and the odd glass of wine, they reminisced about the times they used to regularly go out for a drink with ‘the lads’. Lots of funny stories and loads of laughs were had by all.

Rain, rain, go away!….

Let’s hope the heatwave in May wasn’t the only Summer weather we are going to have this year – things have turned decidedly mixed since. However, that hasn’t stopped the residents of Balmore Country House from having some fun. Last week, they held an indoor games session, with lots of laughs along the way. It will take more than a few drops of rain to get our lots spirits down!

Teaching skills…….

How did you learn to knit? Perhaps it was your Mum or your Gran who showed you what to do, and in no time you were going ‘knit one, pearl one..’ For Ruddington staff member, Eva, it has been our lovely resident, Peggy, who has shown her what to do and passed on her experience of years of knitting. Peggy has been a very patient teacher, and Eva a great learner. We look forward to seeing what the finished articles turn out to be.

Puzzling it out….

Residents at The Ruddington like nothing better than a good old Jigsaw puzzle. This week, they launched themselves into doing several different ones. It’s a lovely, calming activity and is great for promoting concentration and fine motor skills.

Fancy a beer?….

Well, the lovely residents of Orchard House did, and so they soaked up the sunshine at the annual Ruddington Beer Festival, enjoying beer, cider, live music, and the relaxed summer atmosphere as crowds gathered on The Green for “Ruddfest” — the village’s popular beer, food, and music celebration. The event is known for its wide selection of beers and ciders alongside family-friendly entertainment and outdoor seating in the sun. It was a lovely trip out for everyone, made all the better by the fab weather!

A trip out…..

Our lovely resident from The Ruddington, Joyce, enjoys nothing better than a trip to the park. So, with the weather set fair, we took a trip, and she had a great time. A particular favourite was the roundabout. We’re sure it won’t be long before she wants to go back again.

Congratulations Mihiri!

Our lovely Orchard House staff member, Mihiri Fernando, successfully passed her Level 5 in Care last week with the support of the My Care Group. This is a terrific achievement and testament to her commitment and professionalism.

Mihiri joined Orchard House in December 2022. Since then, she has progressed from Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant, and later to Care Coordinator through her hard work and dedication.

After successfully completing her Level 5 qualification in Care, she has now been appointed to another care home as a Deputy Manager.

We are incredibly happy and proud of Mihiri’s achievement and wish her every success in her new role. Once again, huge congratulations from all of us at Orchard House Care Home!

A lovely trip out….

Two of our residents at The Ruddington, who are Mother and Son, had a wonderful day out in the sunshine this week to celebrate Mum’s Birthday. The centre of Nottingham did them proud, and they had a lovely lunch as well as enjoying some sunbathing in Market Square. It was great to see them enjoying their day so much.
