Our St Peter’s residents certainly don’t. They have thoroughly enjoyed getting slightly messy with the cake mix this week. Some gorgeous cupcakes were the order of the day. They didn’t last long once they were out of the oven – they tasted too good!

Staff and residents here at Orchard House have had lots of fun this week getting the home ready for the Christmas season. With all the decorations up, it’s looking really festive and is bringing a smile to everyone’s face. All that we need now is Santa and his reindeer to turn up, and we are sure for a great time. We hope your Christmas preparations are going smoothly!

First there were the decorations, then the concert! St Peter’s is looking really festive after a great effort from everyone to get all our decorations up. We think the trees look great this year. To continue the Christmas mood, we then had our first Christmas performance of the season, from the lovely Hannah – such a brilliant singer. Everyone really enjoyed the show, with lots of our residents joining in and dancing. It was a really fun occasion and one that got Christmas 2025 off to a great start.

Here at Orchard House, we are so proud of two of our staff members.
Firstly, congratulations to Gina, who has passed her Level 3 in Care. Gina has been with us for seven years, and she always works hard, and shows real dedication and compassion.
Secondly, congratulations to Rachel, who has achieved her Level 3 as a Cook.
Well done to both of you!

A big welcome to our new resident, Sandra. She recently came to live at St Peter’s, and on her first day she won our darts tournament! She was over the moon. Apparently she used to play darts with her husband, and she can not wait to tell him she won! Well done Sandra and it’s lovely to have you at St Peter’s – we hope you will be very happy here.

Our lovely residents at The Ruddington like nothing better than some friendly competition over a board game or two. They chose the classic Ludo for this week’s battle. A game that some of our younger readers may not be familiar with, but back in the day, it was all the rage. Despite there being some competitive spirit on show, it never got in the way of our residents’ friendship and laughter. A lovely way of bringing people together.

Halloween week was certainly enjoyed by the residents of Balmore Country House. In particular, our ladies loved dressing up in their witches’ hats and causing no end of trouble for everyone! Just joking – they are the nicest set of witches you will ever meet. Everyone enjoyed the decorations around the home and joining in the spooky fun all week!

Last week St Peter’s welcomed back regular visitors Kevin and Marie for a fantastic Halloween Show. What a brilliant show they put on, with everyone joining in and having so much fun. The costumes and songs were great, so a big thank you to them for the effort they put in to making it such a great spectacle. Everyone is looking forward to them coming back and we cant wait to see what they come up with next!
